Our business
The Affordable Homes For Life Group acquires, refurbishes, leases and manages residential homes in England. Our supply chain is dominated by construction and maintenance contractors, materials suppliers and professional services.
Where the risk is
We treat refurbishment and maintenance labour as our highest-risk area — subcontracted trades, agency labour and cleaning — and manage it accordingly.
What we do
- Contractors sign up to our code of conduct, including fair pay, right-to-work checks and no recruitment fees charged to workers.
- We favour direct, established contractor relationships over long subcontracting chains, and require visibility of any subcontracting.
- Site visits include labour-standards checks alongside quality inspections.
- Concerns can be raised confidentially by anyone — workers, residents or partners — and are investigated by the Group, with protection for those who speak up.
Training and accountability
Delivery and procurement teams are trained to spot the signs of labour exploitation. The board reviews this statement and our performance against it annually.
